CALL FOR COLLABORATIVE NGO & OIL AND GAS PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS AT THE 19TH WPC!


The Social Responsibility (SR) Global Village

From June 30th to July 3rd, 2008 the 19th WPC will host a social responsibility "Global Village" area located in the Congress Exhibition. Presented by social responsibility partners of the oil & gas industry, this interactive exhibit is aimed at increasing awareness of key initiatives, regional and international, and will highlight projects developed jointly between NGOs and the oil & gas industry that advance sustainability, human rights and cooperation to the benefit of society.

Advancing human rights and a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2008 will be one of several featured topics in the Global Village showcase. Sustainable development, stakeholder engagement, community involvement, and societal expectations are a few examples of other topic areas envisioned for the Global Village.

At the centre of the Global Village will be a well spring of knowledge and a fair trade refreshment centre. Daily offerings will include: distinguished guests, music, art, literature, hands-on activities and opportunities to learn first hand from NGO and industry partner initiatives worldwide.

If you have a partnership project or initiative that you would like to showcase in the social responsibility Global Village at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid, please submit your abstract using the following as a guide to the WPC SR committee:

Please note that your abstract must clearly define your partnership, project goals (and outcomes), and key message(s).

The target of the committee is to identify projects or initiatives and work with both the NGO and Industry partners to develop interactive multimedia project displays that will run for the length of the Congress in the SR Global Village.
