The 19th World Petroleum Congress in Rome for the 20th World Energy Congress

The Spanish Organizing Committee of the 19th World Petroleum Congress had a stand at the 20th World Energy Congress (Rome, 11th-15th November) to promote next year’s major event known in the industry as the “the Olympics of the oil and gas industry”.

For the first time in its history, the 19th World Petroleum Congress is to be held in Spain (Madrid) between 29th June and 3rd July 2008 and 4,000 delegates are expected to attend. The theme chosen for this occasion is: “A world in transition: delivering energy for sustainable growth”. The Congress offers professionals linked to the sector the chance to share their knowledge and experience with renowned experts in the industry and leading executives from world’s top oil and gas companies.

The World Petroleum Exhibition will be held in parallel with the Congress and on the same site (Ifema-Feria de Madrid). Five hundred companies will take part and it will also be home to the Global Business Opportunities Centre, where the National Committees of the World Petroleum Council, the creator and driver of the Congress, will be present. Some 12,000 people are expected to visit these two exhibitions.

To familiarize delegates and exhibitors with this Congress, the Spanish Organizing Committee of the 19th World Petroleum Congress had a space in Pavilion B8 stand n. 14 at the Congress in Rome. A welcoming cocktail was also held on Tuesday 13 November at 12.00 to which all delegates and exhibitors were invited. The members of the Spanish Organizing Committee was present, amongst them Jorge Segrelles (Chairman) and Juan Bachiller (Deputy Chairman), together with the Director General of the World Petroleum Council, Dr. Pierce Riemer.
