OVER 500 PETROLEUM LEADERS CONFIRMED FOR 19TH WPC18th February 2008 A virtual who’s who of the petroleum industry will be presented at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid. The event is bringing together an unrivalled speaker panel of more than 500 experts and industry leaders for what promises to be the biggest event for the global petroleum sector in 2008. 16 ministers and nearly 100 CEOs from oil and gas organizations around the world will be addressing the key issues and challenges of the industry during the Congress in the week of the 30th June under the official theme of the event: A World in Transition: Delivering Energy for Sustainable Growth. The heads of BP, Petrobras, Total, Shell, ExxonMobil, Rosneft, Statoil, Schlumberger and many others of the world’s largest petroleum companies are all confirmed to speak at the Congress. The leaders of OPEC and the IEA will meet up during the traditional OPEC/IEA Luncheon and the King of Spain will lead the inauguration of the Congress. The Director General of the World Petroleum Council, Dr. Pierce Riemer, also announced a list of high-level country presentations during the event presented by ministerial delegations from some of the WPC’s 60 member countries including Russia, Canada, Qatar, Iran, Netherlands, Venezuela, Nigeria and several others. Frank discussions will feature in the CEO-level round tables of the Congress and its Best Practice Keynote presentations, while 24 technical fora will be discussing the scientific, technological and professional achievements of the petroleum industry.
