19TH WORLD PETROLEUM CONGRESS TARGETS LATIN AMERICA

18th October 2007

The 19th World Petroleum Congress will be held in Madrid from the 29th June – 3rd July 2008. The Congress will highlight Spain’s unique position as a perfect representation of the integration and importance of the European consumer markets and, at the same time, the need to increase participation in exploration and production activities around the world. As a reliable consumer nation, Spain has no significant oil and gas reserves. Consequently, Spanish companies have been forced to seek an active role in the upstream sector and are now participating in international exploration and production activities in more than twenty of the main oil and/or gas producer countries. The Spanish oil and gas industry has experienced a rapid international expansion and is now successfully developing its activities worldwide with integrated companies, playing major roles in Latin America and Africa.

Therefore, over the next few months promotion of the Congress will be carried out in one of the most important target markets, Latin America. This will begin with an exhibition stand at the Argentina Oil & Gas Expo to be held from the 22-25 October in Buenos Aires, followed by a stand also at the Petroleum Exhibition and Conference of Mexico on the 6-8 November and a visit to the Oil & Gas Investment Conference in Cartagena, Colombia.

“We hope that attending some of the most important events in South America will help us to meet key decision makers in the industry face-to-face and enable us to promote the Congress to this important market” Frederic Malgoire, Sales Director, 19th WPC.
