WORLD PETROLEUM COUNCIL LAUNCHES CALL FOR PAPERS FOR 19TH CONGRESS

Calling all experts in the oil and gas industry … The World Petroleum Council (WPC) has launched its Call for Papers for the 19th World Petroleum Congress.

The WPC is inviting all oil and gas specialists to share their knowledge and their expertise with the attendees of the largest gathering for the petroleum industry when the 19th Congress will be held in Madrid from the 29th June to the 3rd July 2008.

The international Congress Programme Committee has prepared a wide-ranging Technical Programme to recognize the scientific, technological and professional achievements of the petroleum industry. The topics for the sessions reflect the official theme for the 19th World Petroleum Congress: A World in Transition - Delivering Energy for Sustainable Growth With nearly 300 places to be awarded to the best papers and posters, the World Petroleum Congress demonstrates once again its role as a benchmark for the oil and gas industry.

Submissions are invited for a broad range of topics in the 24 Forums of the Congress. They are split across four key blocks focusing on the latest developments and achievements in the areas of Upstream, Downstream, Natural Gas and Renewables and Managing the Industry. A listing of all the topics and the Forums of the technical programme is available on the submission site. Until the 28th September authors can submit their unpublished, original abstracts online via the link on the World Petroleum Council website at www.world-petroleum.org, or directly at www.wpcpubs.org

The Director General of the World Petroleum Council, Dr. Pierce Riemer, summed up the great task ahead: “We would ask you to help us to find world class, quality papers and posters for the 19th World Petroleum Congress and we particularly encourage young people and women to take part. For the 18th World Petroleum Congress in South Africa we received over 1200 abstracts. This time the response has been so positive that we expect to receive even more! On behalf of the World Petroleum Council and the official Organising Committee in Spain I invite all to join us for the 19th World Petroleum Congress in 2008 and demonstrate the industry’s commitment to excellence at the “Olympics of the oil and gas industry” in Madrid.”
