KEY INDUSTRY FIGURES WILL MEET IN MADRID AT THE 19TH WORLD PETROLEUM CONGRESS

February 28th 2008

For the first time Spain will host the most relevant forum of the petrol industry

The successful development and growing prestige gained by the Spanish oil and gas industry has been a determining factor

From the 29th of June to the 3rd of July the 19th World Petroleum Congress will take place in Madrid. Key leading figures of the sector will meet at this forum to analyse the challenges, the trends and the main guidelines for the future of the petroleum industry.

Among those attending, those that stand out include the Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar, H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah; the Secretary General of OPEC, H. E. Abdalla Salem El-Badri; the Executive Head of UN Global Compact, Mr. Georg Kell; the Chair of Transparency International, Ms. Huguette Labelle; the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Mr Nobou Tanaka, as well as the Ministers of Energy and Industry of some of the leading producer countries and representatives of the most important oil companies in the world.

It is the first time that this Congress is held in Spain, a circumstance that is due, in great part, to the fact the Spanish oil industry has been gathering more importance on an international level and due to the growing prestige of the national oil and gas companies.
