The Social Responsibility Global Village will be incorporated in the accompanying exhibitions of the 19th World Petroleum Congress which will take place in Madrid from the 29th of June – 3rd of July 2008. Presented by social responsibility partners of the oil & gas industry, this interactive exhibit is aimed at increasing awareness of key regional and international social responsibility initiatives and will highlight projects developed jointly between NGOs and the oil & gas industry that advance sustainability, human rights and cooperation to the benefit of society. The 19th World Petroleum Congress Organising Committee is calling for NGOs and industry partners to put forward partnership projects or initiatives to showcase in the Village.

An interactive information centre and a fair trade refreshment area will feature in the Social Responsibility Global Village. Daily offerings will include: distinguished guests, music, art, literature, hands-on activities and opportunities to learn firsthand from participating NGOs and industry partners.

Advancing human rights and a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2008 will be one of several featured topics in the Global Village. Sustainable development, stakeholder engagement, community involvement, and societal expectations are a few examples of other topic areas envisioned for the Village.
