SOCIAL EVENTSOpening Dinner Sponsored by Repsol YPF, the Opening Dinner will take place on the evening of June 29th, 2008 at IFEMA. ![]() The President of the World Petroleum Congress, the Chairman and CEO of Repsol YPF and the Chairman of the Spanish Organising Committee will welcome all delegates and exhibitors that will be attending the 19th World Petroleum Congress. After the speeches and the dinner, the event will count on the participation of the flamenco dancer Ms. Sara Baras, and the tenor Mr. José Carreras, who have joined their talent in a unique show. The prestigious awarded dancer and the worldwide known lyrical singer get together to fusion songs from the most important Spanish poets and composers from the XIXth and XXth century. The result is a unique mixture of two musical concepts that has never seen before. Last time Baras and Carreras acted together, tickets only lasted a couple of hours, which gives an idea of the expectation that this show brings up. Spanish Night ![]() This festive, informal celebration of Spain’s cultural, folkloric and gastronomic diversity will take place on the evening of July 1st. Guests will be invited to stroll throuch different regions of Spain and to stop and watch the entertainment while they take a break. The Spanish Night is being sponsored by Cepsa. Closing Ceremony & Farewell Reception Following the prestigious Dewhurst Lecture pronounced by H.E. Ali Al-Naimi, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, on the final afternoon of the Congress (July 3rd) Spain will officially pass over the flag to Qatar, the next host country for 2011 in a joyous celebration. This meeting of cultures will formally close the 19th World Petroleum Congress. |
